September 2026 marks ten years since hugsandchrises.com.au went live, not long after I became a celebrant.

I originally did it for one very specific reason: to marry my best friend.

 

It’s still a good story, and I’ll happily tell you over a coffee or beer.

​

What began as a one-off has become a decade of ceremonies, stories, nervous laughs, happy tears, unexpected moments and some very memorable celebrations across Brisbane, South-East Queensland and beyond.

​

Ten years in, I know much more clearly what matters.

​

The best ceremonies are not the most elaborate. They are the ones that feel true to the people standing in them.

​

They sound like you. They reflect your relationship. They leave room for warmth, humour, emotion and personality without ever feeling forced or over-produced.

​

That idea is at the heart of the next chapter of hugs&chris’s.

​

After a decade in this work, the brand has grown up with me. The look is changing, the experience is evolving, but the philosophy is simple: create ceremonies that feel genuine, relaxed and completely right for the people at the centre of them.

​

I bring experience, calm and structure to the process, but I don’t believe your ceremony should ever feel like it came from a template.

 

We’ll work out what matters, what doesn’t, what sounds like you and what absolutely doesn’t, then build something that feels effortless on the day.

​

Romantic, funny, intimate, unconventional, extravagant, costumed or somewhere halfway around the world, I’m open to it.

​

I’m based in Brisbane and work throughout South-East Queensland, interstate and beyond.
